Online Conference

AI has upturned decades of assessment practice — not because the project is dead, but because we've been looking at the window instead of through it. This workshop strips assessment back to its core purpose and rebuilds it for the age of AI.

About the event

Assessment has always had a core purpose: to make student thinking visible and to use that visibility to advance learning, deepen understanding, and cultivate informed judgement within a discipline.

The most immediate and dramatic impact of AI on education has been to disrupt decades of established assessment practice.

Is “the project” dead, or can we revive rich and authentic assessment by re-examining assessment itself? The test, the project, and the report were never the point. They were meant to be windows into learning. Yet too often they have become the focus, displacing the student they were designed to reveal.

This two-hour online workshop invites secondary teachers to do exactly that: strip assessment back to its core purpose and rebuild from there. In doing so we will explore strategies that preserve the integrity of assessment in the age of AI while still engaging students in meaningful tasks. Expect worked examples, hands-on…
